RYMAN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH—SATURDAY 24 NOVEMBER 2007
MATCH REPORTER: MARTIN HODSON
Cray moved into third spot with a convincing win on Saturday against another promotion chasing side. Cray starting the game on a run of 6 wins and a draw looking confident and making all the chances. On 30 minutes Michael Power scored one of the goals of the season so far when he received the ball inside the centre circle, looked up and floated the ball over the head of the home ‘keeper. Cray went into the break one up but, as in recent weeks, it could quite easily have been three.
Although Walton stepped up their play in the second half they had nothing to worry the solid Cray defence. In fact, Glen Knight in the Cray goal did not have a single shot to save in the whole 90 minutes.
The Wanderers continued to make chances and were rewarded in the 83rd minute when Lewis Wood scored after the keeper had dropped the ball by the by-line.
This was no doubt Cray’s best performance of the season and will put them in good heart for some difficult games which are coming up.
