A VIEW FROM THE FLOODLIGHT PYLON Sandy Lane – BACK THE BID! There's still an extremely long way to go in the Chairman's attempt to bring football back to the Crays. But, reading through the exclusive article on the Forever Amber website yesterday, I'm sure that Gary Hillman and John Woolf will get the desired result. Talking of articles, have you ever noticed how they can appear on whatever club's website one minute and then on the Kentish Football site the next? I've certainly noticed, and it's happened again with the Sandy Lane thing. Why is it that the proprietor of the alleged 'Voice of Football' site hardly ever credits the writer of the articles that he has copied and reproduced verbatim? That's bad protocol in proper journalistic circles. It's good to see the Wands have lifted themselves out of the mire that is the Ryman Premier League relegation zone. There's been plenty of discussion on the 229 Forum this season on how supporters perceive the course of action to be to steady what was at times a rocky boat. What some didn't realise was that, by calling for Jenko's head to be served on a platter, they themselves were rocking that boat even more! Several good wins since Christmas have gone a long, long way to helping Cray creep up the league table. Whilst reaching the play-offs is currently not a totally impossible task, what a story that would be if Cray not only secure a play-off place but end up winning the play-offs as well. Okay, so it may not realistically happen, but what if it does…? I hear on the grapevine that the proposed Cray Wanderers exhibition is pushing ahead and an official announcement is expected shortly. I can't wait. I also hear that there's loads of relics (not including Jerry Dowlen or Keith Reeve!) being collected for the display. Since I mentioned in my last article about referees and linos needing to clamp down on goalies who leave the 18-yard box before hoofing a drop-kick downfield, not one official has come forward and said they will be keeping an eye on the situation. Is that passing the buck or shoving their head in the sand (or elsewhere, if they like it)? Until next time… COME ON YOU WANDS!!
