THE CRAY WANDERERS COMMUNITY SCHEME
'FOOTBALL 4 EVERYONE'SOCIAL INCLUSION
The main role of CWCS is to provide a social inclusion project, aiming to:
Reduce levels of crime and anti-social behaviour.
Address social exclusion and drug misuse.
Support regeneration programmes in particular areas of need.
There will be local coaches who will also be acting as positive role models. Participants will engage in well-structured football sessions (coaching or matches), where the power of football will be used to get an important message across to the youngsters.
SCHOOLS
We will also target schools in the attempt to reduce the risk of youths in the area being drawn into negative behaviours, such as anti-social behaviour or drug misuse. Again, we intend to do this by using the power of sport to send a positive message.
Possible gains from this would be:
Youths going on to play for teams in their preferred sport.
The development of a sense of sportsmanship, linked to feeling part of society along with moral responsibility.
Increasing employability amongst youths, either within the sporting field or through application of skills learned which are relevant in other fields, such as communication and teamwork.
HOLIDAY COURSES
We also run between-term summer and winter sports courses, which are open to any young person between the ages of 5 and 15 years old, running from 10am to 3pm.
SATURDAY MORNING CLUBS
In Cray and other locations nearby there are now Saturday morning clubs running, such as at:
St Mary Cray Recreation Ground.
Hoblingwell Green.
Sidcup Conservative Club.
9am-12pm.
Ages 5-15.
The Cray Wanderers Community Scheme is now giving the chance for young people throughout the Bromley borough to come together in a fun and safe environment.
